There is more to Glastonbury than the mystery of Avalon, and it is also true that Avalon may be found in many other places. But for those who care about

The way to Avalon involves meeting the powers embodied in the ancient legends - the Round Table, Arthur and Guinevere, Merlin and Morgan Le Fay, the maidens and spirits of place...and the Quest for the Holy Grail. It contains the essence of paganism and the deepest Christian impulses, yet something beyond all these distinctions. It is a land of adventure, quest and danger, of friendships and quarrels. Yet above all, it is a land where regeneration and healing can take place, a land of miracles.

For Britain, Glastonbury is at the centre of its 'psychogeography'

I first visited Glastonbury in 1993 and visited for many years before moving here in 2013. I passionately feel that it is the lanscape itself that is the great teacher.


Since the Middle Ages, Glastonbury has been known as the Isle of Avalon.
